Founding Design Engineer
About Us
FleetGlue is building the FactoryOS that will allow manufacturers to scale production ready automation solutions in minutes, not months. With a suite of powerful applications, we allow manufacturers to automate faster and smarter by interoperably coordinating every robot, machine, and system on one platform. At FleetGlue, our mission is to give every American manufacturer the power to automate their factories at hyperspeed.
We’re already deployed in production at top manufacturers and growing fast. Backed by leading investors, and built by a team that moves at light speed with deep conviction in American industrial dominance.
The Role
We're seeking a talented software engineer with a strong foundation in robotics software development. We are open to part-time work in a paid capacity, with a clear path to full-time employment upon graduation.
What you’ll do:
- Build the bridge between robots and software. Develop, integrate, and maintain robotic interfaces, APIs, and data pipelines that unify control across heterogeneous fleets.
- Design real-time systems. Implement robust, low-latency communication between Conduit’s cloud orchestration layer and on-prem robots using ROS, MQTT, OPC-UA, or custom protocols.
- Develop autonomy connectors. Extend Conduit’s mission planning and control capabilities to work with new robot types — from AMRs and AGVs to arms, gantries, and CNC systems.
- Prototype fast, deploy faster. Test integrations directly with live robots on factory floors and refine based on real-world performance.
- Collaborate across teams. Work closely with Forward Deployed Engineers, Backend Engineers, and customers to debug, optimize, and evolve robotic systems in production.
- Shape the robotics layer of FactoryOS. Your architecture and abstractions will become the foundation for every robot integration that follows.
You are
- Someone with strong proficiency in Python or C++ for robotics development.
- Experienced with ROS or other robotic middleware (e.g. ROS 2, ZeroMQ, MQTT).
- Understanding of real-time communication, networking, and device orchestration.
- Comfortable working at the intersection of hardware, embedded systems, and cloud services.
- Able to test, debug, and deploy in live environments — from simulation to factory floor.
Bonus Point
- Experience integrating industrial robots (Fanuc, ABB, UR, MiR, Omron, etc.).
- Familiarity with PLCs, Modbus, OPC-UA, or fieldbus protocols.
- Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and edge deployments.
- Curiosity for how machines think — and drive to make them think better.
- Passion for building the systems that make automation accessible, reliable, and fast.
What We Offer
- Top tier pay and equity: We want to make it easy to be a Conduit
- Generational opportunity. Be early at a company defining the software layer for industrial automation.
- American reindustrialization is happening. We’re building the platform to make it real — faster.
- Zero bureaucracy. High impact. You’ll be on the front lines, solving real problems for real factories.
- You will level up. You’ll work directly with the founder and exec team
